Project overview
This Pearl Shell fibreglass pool in Narre Warren North was planned around the people who use it, the conditions under it and the home beside it. A pearl-finish lap pool designed for exercise, family life and clear supervision from the home's main entertaining spaces.
Project decisions
Property
The project was planned as an integrated outdoor living space rather than a pool placed in isolation.
Ground conditions
Saturated November ground and the property's flood overlay required additional drainage, protection and construction planning.
Family use
A full-length swimming area works with a removable moulded table designed for seated family interaction in the pool.

01 / The starting point
A young family wanted their 2,097m² property to become an integrated outdoor sanctuary rather than simply gain a swimming pool.
The pool needed enough uninterrupted length for laps and exercise while still supporting everyday recreation and time together.
An alfresco area opposite the main entertaining space, outdoor shower and bathroom access were planned to make the whole backyard work as one connected setting.
The family also wanted a place in the water where a parent could sit and introduce their infant to swimming in a controlled shared zone.

02 / Site and construction
Extensive November rainfall left the site saturated before and during installation, complicating excavation, movement and scheduling.
The property's flood overlay added drainage and structural considerations that had to be addressed without losing the clean design direction.
Machinery repeatedly bogged in the softened ground. Temporary working platforms and ground-protection systems were used to create a safer construction path.
Excavation methods were adjusted to limit disturbance, and equipment better suited to soft ground replaced conventional machinery where required.

03 / Shape, finish and use
The long rectangular form supports lap swimming while subtle zones let the pool serve adults, a young child and guests at the same time.
A moulded platform accepts a removable in-pool table, creating a seated interaction zone that can be cleared when it is not needed.
The table position and water depth establish a distinct family area without introducing a visual barrier across the pool.
Pearl Shell keeps the water bright beside the home's light architectural tones and reinforces the clean, minimal direction of the surrounding outdoor spaces.
What sits behind the water
The equipment below was selected for this completed pool and the way its owners wanted to use it.
